Who wouldn’t like to earn extra money in their spare time? Almost every reader of this blog would for certain. That’s why I love coming across opportunities like WeGoLook.
WeGoLook has been around since 2009. The company refers to itself as the “Uber of inspections.” WeGoLook’s mobile workforce of over 30,000 contractors means businesses and individuals can have information verified in-person regardless of whether they are located across town or across the country.
What’s a Look?
A “Look” is a one-time gig in which a business or individual has requested a “Looker” go check out the condition of an automobile, boat, building, auction item or something else entirely. The person or business requesting the Look may be an insurance company investigating a claim, an individual interested in purchasing a car in a location far away, or maybe a business needs a court record pulled in a county hundreds of miles away.
The Looks are varied and some can be pretty interesting. The majority are car inspections in which you will be taking photos or video of a car and answering specific questions, WeGoLook recently partnered with eBay Motors after all. But you may be asked to inspect anything from a grandfather clock to verify an online date. While the latter is considered an off-the-wall request it can be very beneficial to the customer in order to verify a potential date prior to investing a lot of emotional time or travel expenses.
What does WeGoLook Pay?
From what I have seen, most Looks pay around $20. Some can pay up to $200 depending on the complexity and location. You are paid by direct deposit one week after the gig has been completed.
Tish signed up as a Looker in 2014. She’s a busy mom and also has a career. She averages around $150 per week, but on a busy week she can make over $400.
What are the WeGoLook Reviews Saying?
Like most task-based opportunities, there are more gigs available in some locations than others. Keep an eye – or ear – open for notifications and act quickly if you are interested.
Lookers are independent contractors and are not penalized for being selective in picking up gigs. But, there are some advantages to staying active.
If you are totally awesome, you may be asked to become a member of the PRO Team which gives you priority and exclusive access to gigs in your area. There are currently around 1,800 members of PRO Team nationwide. There is a $15 processing fee involved with becoming a PRO Team member.
This is a part-time opportunity great for those looking for something to pick up for extra cash when needed. WeGoLook does encourage “platform stacking” for those interested in earning a full-time income on their own terms. That simply means signing up for complimentary sharing economy gigs like Uber or DoorDash so you can keep your days filled with work regardless of the usual ebb and flow.
WeGoLook had this to say when I inquired about their Lookers length of stay,
We have several Lookers who have been performing “Looks” for 4-5 years. They love the flexibility of completing inspections and tasks when it fits into their schedule and can accept as many as they wish or pass on them if needed. That means you can accept all of the jobs you want and then the next day, not be obligated to accept any.
Many of our Lookers have designated their Look income to specific activities such as: paying for their daughter’s dance classes, traveling tournaments, missionary trips, vacations and Christmas money.
How do I sign up with WeGoLook?
You will need to submit an application and pass a background check. No particular experience is required, but you will need reliable transportation to get to and from your tasks. If accepted, you will go through an onboarding process which is done by phone and takes around 30 minutes.
After onboarding has been completed, you will download the app to your smartphone – only Android and iOS devices are accepted at this time. This is how you will receive notifications of available Looks within 30 miles of your location. If interested, you will click the button to accept.
Tish has these words of advice for anyone interested in becoming a Looker:
JUST DO IT! #1 Bring a friendly, well-organized attitude #2 Have a reliable car, a smart phone and LOVE using traffic apps like WAZE and Google maps, they will be your best friend! #3 Communicate effectively with the WGL team- they are very efficient and can help you with anything!!
Have you been a Looker? I’d love to hear your experience.

Seemed like a great way to make a few bucks in a given month! But, so far, from my experience it is more lucrative if you live in a densely, populated area! I live near a big city but way north of it! I have yet to receive any looks for a week now. (I found this idea through your site!) But if you live in a large metro area this is probably more worthwhile!
Thanks for the ideas though!

This could be a good thing if you live in an urban area, but for rural areas, it’s a bust. I got 1 look the first year, then 2-3 per year since. It’s not as flexible as they make it sound, pay is low, and the bombardment of phone calls and emails after accepting a look is a major pain. Plus, you absolutely have to a cell phone that will take their app. However, if you do live in an urban area, and are able to super flexible, this is for you.
