Wayfair has several work-from-home customer service positions open. In this article, you will find state restrictions, pay, and reviews.
As we enter the holiday season, we always see an increase in the number of remote customer service openings available. There are many companies – companies you probably shop at as a consumer – that outsource their customer support needs to home-based agents to cover the phones, emails and chat systems this time of year.
Wayfair is just one of them!
Wayfair Work-From-Home Jobs
Wayfair strives to care for its customers and has an award-winning customer service team. They balance technology with human empathy and want to build customers’ trust and loyalty. The sales team makes it easier than ever to shop from home, and the customer service team proactively monitors customer orders to provide deliveries seamlessly.
When a customer does call the service representatives, Wayfair claims to empower their team to resolve the issue. These issues can be resolved via email, chat, video call, or phone call.
The job description asks that you troubleshoot and resolve customer inquiries. The purpose of doing this will be to build relationships with customers. You will be asked to provide service to a customer seeking assistance with post-order issues, such as returns, replacements, refunds, and more.
Wayfair would you for you to exceed customer, efficiency metrics, and issue resolutions targes. They would like you to look for areas where you can improve constantly. You will navigate multiple software applications at a time and demonstrate conflict management skills while maintaining a professional composure.
Requirements
These customer support positions require:
- excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- a passion for helping others
- a successful track-record working in a high-volume environment
- regular attendance
- a bachelor’s degree or the equivalent customer-facing experience. (I wouldn’t shy away from applying if you don’t have a bachelor’s degree if you do have a considerable amount of customer service-related experience.)
- a workspace free of distraction
- an upload speed of 5 Mbps with a download speed of 25 Mbps
Another restriction mentioned is that WiFi is not permitted; you will have to hard-wire your computer through an ethernet cord to your modem.
The great news is Wayfair will provide you with all the equipment necessary to do your job. At least for the current openings. As we know, job details can change at any time. Always check the current listings.
The position requires a five-week training period.
State Restrictions
Although there is an overwhelming number of virtual, customer service jobs at Wayfair, it does depend on where you live. Currently, Wayfair is only hiring those that live in the states of Washington, Colorado, Arizona, Texas, Minnesota, Missouri, or Nevada.
While there are other opportunities for customer service representatives in the United States, Wayfair seems to have state restrictions on each job listing. To make sure you qualify when applying read through the job description carefully to get the right location for you.
Pay Rate
Wayfair, on their job posting page, does not discuss pay rates. I would imagine it is in-line with most other remote customer positions.
Home Reviews
Do people like working for Wayfair? A quick review of Glassdoor, Indeed, and several other sites helped find that while some people enjoy the environment, others do not. That’s typical with any online position.
One comment from a stay-at-home-working-parent state that it is an “okay” job and that the employee was “happy to be able to work from home,” but that the company mostly focuses on metrics. Most companies are, especially when it comes to home-based positions.
Other employees at a seemingly higher level of Wayfair rated working for the company at 4.0’s and 5.0’s. Their claims are production-driven and benefit-focused. Other claims from those who rated the company highly is that they get to meet and speak with interesting, collaborative people. The pay is good, and the hours are great.
From all sites researched when searching for reviews, the average rating for Wayfair was about a 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. That’s a pretty common rating for customer service positions.
What I really look for when scanning reviews are big red flags like non-payment. I didn’t see any of those.
Conclusion
If you are looking for a place to start working from home, it looks like Wayfair may be a good place for you.
If you are someone who wants to work from home, loves to focus on metrics, and enjoys speaking with people, Wayfair’s virtual, customer service position may be right for you.
