Are you searching for a work-from-home job in Arizona? You may have noticed several of the big work-at-home companies not hiring from the Grand Canyon State, but I can confidently tell you that there are just as many or more happily hiring Arizonans to telecommute. Not all the jobs are in customer service, either – you’ll find healthcare, sales, and delivery opportunities below as well. I’ve put together a list of 10 companies ready to hire you to work at home in Arizona today. Read on to kickstart your job search.
1. Alorica at Home
Alorica at Home is a well-established work-from-home opportunity that emphasizes how their flexible scheduling can fit into the lifestyle of just about everyone, from university students to stay-at-home moms to retirees. In order to qualify for this position, you must have a PC (no Macs), a high-speed Internet connection, and a phone line.This position includes interacting with customers through chat and social media along with email and phone. Pay is guaranteed to meet at least your local minimum wage.
2. Amazon
Amazon only hires from certain states, and Arizona is on that list. CSR positions are the most frequently and plentifully available, but Amazon goes beyond work-at-home customer service: they also hire for positions like technical support for ALEXA, business development, loss prevention, machine learning, web services sales, and more. Some of their positions also come with benefits, from health coverage and PTO to retirement planning and employee discounts. Check their virtual locations page for all available remote jobs.
3. Appen
Becoming an independent agent with Appen gives you access to their work-at-home rater and language gigs. For their rater jobs, there’s a three-part qualification exam you must pass to be approved to work with Appen – these tests evaluate your understanding of search engine evaluation. (If you fail it, you’re eligible for a one-time retake.) There are also tests to pass for their language jobs, such as spelling tests in Spanish or French or whichever language you speak besides English. As an independent contractor with Appen, you invoice them monthly for any work performed for their clients. In 2018, they were rated #2 on FlexJobs’ Top 100 Remote Companies list.
4. Blooms Today
Blooms Today is looking for independent sales representatives in every state except California, Texas, and Florida. This position involves taking incoming calls from buyers, answering questions about products and supporting their partners. As an independent sales representative, you’ll be expected to upsell and meet or exceed desired sales metrics. They provide an hourly wage, but also provide performance-based bonuses – meaning their average reps earn $15 per hour with their top performers earning around $24. Check the job listing to see if your home computer meets their work-from-home requirements.
5. DoorDash
If you enjoy any excuse to go for a drive, consider delivering for DoorDash. As long as you’re 18 or over with no major traffic violations in the last seven years (or incidents in the last three), you meet the basic requirements to drive for DoorDash. You’ll need to pass a criminal background check as well. DoorDash gigs are picked up via their smartphone app, and you can deliver food or other items in your car or other vehicle. (Bikes and walking are permissible delivery methods in some locations, but you’ll need to read their FAQ for a full list.) Another great aspect of this delivery gig is that you only work whenever you feel like it.
6. Enterprise
Enterprise hires in Arizona, though they do require their work-from-home employees be local to certain cities – currently Bullhead City, Casa Grande, Lake Havasu City, Prescott/Prescott Valley, Sierra Vista, or Yuma. These reservation sales positions may require you to work until 10 PM CST on scheduled nights. It pays $13 an hour and includes the opportunity for earning commission. They say their average reps earn about $250 per month in commission, with their top performers pulling about $800 each month. You must convert callers into confirmed customers, and there will be sales goals to meet. You should have one year of sales experience and at least six months of customer service experience. These are full-time positions.
7. Liveops
Liveops online call center jobs are another independent contractor platform situation – you determine the schedule you’re available, choose from the jobs offered you, and perform that work. Their opportunities tend to group around inbound sales, customer service, insurance claims, tech support, roadside assistance, and more. They accept agents from most states, including Arizona. You must have a landline telephone in addition to a computer, headset, and high-speed Internet connection to work with them. Pay rates depend on the Liveops’ client you work with, and may either pay per talk time (e.g. 25 cents per minute of active talk time) or a base rate (with the option for bonuses). You invoice their clients via Liveops’ platform.
8. SYKES
SYKES also hires customer service representatives to work from home, though it appears you do need to reside in a particular city – right now, they have listings for Tucson, Buckeye, Tempe, Scottsdale, Gilbert, Avondale, Casa Grande, Glendale, Mesa, Sierra Vista, Peoria, Chandler, and Phoenix. As with any other CSR position, this job requires you to take back-to-back calls from customers, help them resolve their issues quickly and completely, and provide top-notch customer service. You must communicate clearly and empathetically. You don’t need to have any experience for this job, though it would be nice if you already have a customer service background.
9. U-Haul
U-Haul’s Sales and Reservations Work from Home program is open to residents anywhere in North America. You can expect to have paid training, and there may be benefits like health coverage and retirement planning available to you. You must have a high school diploma (or equivalent) just like pretty much any other entry level customer service position. Make sure your home office is quiet, and that you have a good headset along with a home computer and high-speed Internet connection. Be aware that many of these positions will include evening and weekend hours, and flexible hours are available on a part-time basis to make this a good side hustle if desired. While sales are required, you won’t have to make any cold calls – all calls that employees handle are inbound only.
10. UnitedHealth Group
UnitedHealth Group also hires from Arizona, if you’re interested in working within the healthcare industry. They’ve actually been on FlexJobs’ list of the Top 100 Remote Companies for four years running. Positions they’re hiring for include case managers, senior data analysts, behavioral health care advocates, and more. When looking into these positions, note that some just say “telecommute considered” and take that into account. Several of these positions require advanced education and training – for example, some require you to be a Registered Nurse and have several years of experience in a given area of healthcare. There are full-time positions available in a variety of shifts as well.
