You know I have an affinity for direct sales opportunities. I have an entire site devoted to them after all. But not every company is the same. And not every company has what it takes to make it long-term. Today we are sitting down with Mallorie Corcoran to discuss her experience as a Chloe + Isabel Merchandiser.
About Chloe + Isabel
Chloe + Isabel was founded by Chantel Waterbury. Chantel spent 15 years in jewelry design and merchandising with companies like Target, Macy’s, Kenneth Cole, Cartier and Tiffany an Co. after graduating from college – college she paid her way through with a direct selling opportunity.
During this time, she felt pulled to use her experience and skills to make a difference for other young women. It was then that Chantel created Chloe + Isabel. Chantel is striving to create an opportunity that empowers women through social retail.
About Mallorie Corcoran, Chloe + Isabel Merchandiser
Fashion and technology are my two passions, so I set out to find a creative outlet that married the two. While playing around on Pinterest, I stumbled upon a piece of jewelry that caught my eye. I clicked the link to purchase the piece and was led to Chloe + Isabel’s homepage. Everything about the company spoke to me – the jewelry, the brand, the CEO + current Merchandiser’s inspirational stories, the modernized concept of direct selling – it was exactly what I’d been looking for: fashion and technology in one!
What’s the typical day-in-the-life of a Merchandiser? Are you able to meet your income goals?
Being a Chloe + Isabel Merchandiser fits into my current work + social schedule seamlessly; I focus my efforts on social media marketing every morning, sharing my love for fashion by posting selfies styled in the jewelry, send personalized messages in the evenings to potential or existing customers, and host in-person pop-up shops (c+i lingo for fun jewelry parties with friends!) for a couple of hours every other weekend. By committing myself to every facet of my c+i business, I’m able to supplement my income by approximately $500-$1k a month! Having the opportunity to run my business on my own terms is what enabled me to be successful – I’ve never felt so empowered!
What’s the process like becoming a merchandiser? What are the requirements?
At Chloe + Isabel, every new merchandiser is interviewed or peer selected by someone in the merchandiser community. Chloe + Isabel vets every applicant received and accepts around 20% to join per month. Chloe + Isabel offers a robust set of training tools, from videos and articles to quizzes and tutorials, to teach merchandisers everything they need to know to be successful.
What do you love most about being a c+i Merchandiser?
That it doesn’t feel like work! Chloe + Isabel provides me with a creative and personalized platform to share my passions and talents with my network, all while meeting new people, working with other businesses, and building my resume. You’re happiest when pursuing your passions in life, and I learned that first hand from my experiences as a c+i Merchandiser!
What are your main goals as a Merchandiser? What are you hoping to accomplish/gain?
My goals are always to continue to educate myself both personally and professionally by utilizing every resource available to me within our c+i Training Academy. When you’re passionate about what you do, you have more enthusiasm, drive and motivation. I don’t want to just feel passionate about my c+i business, I want to put passion into it!
What inspires you to grow your c+i business?
Our community of Merchandisers serve as my greatest source of inspiration. They encourage me to challenge myself by stepping out of my comfort zone, and motivate me to push myself to goals I never dreamed possible. As a result of their support, I’ve grown tremendously both personally and professionally.
How has being a Merchandiser challenged you to reach to new heights?
When you run your own business, you’re the one in charge – you have to rely on your own hard work, instincts and efforts. These challenges have transformed me into a confident, creative and innovative young woman. There’s a different level of pride and joy when you accomplish something on your own!
You are such an active member of the c+i community and we want to know what you love most about being part of the #candifamily, and why?
Exactly that – we are family. I never dreamed that on top of finding what I love to do, I’d also be blessed to share my experiences with a nationwide family. What exists amongst our #candifamily is something so special and unique – sentiments of support, advice, inspiration, love and even life. Any challenge I’ve ever faced with my c+i business, I’ve been able to overcome as a result of these incredible and beautiful women. What we have here at c+i is truly one-of-a-kind!
