Recently a reader asked about companies with work-from-home jobs in Chicago, so I started searching. If you’re ready for a new job, there are plenty of remote jobs in the Windy City. 1. Windy City Call Center
Located near Chicago, the Windy City Call Center is recruiting candidates to provide inbound and outbound call center services in a variety of business verticals. This company only hires remote workers from eight states, and Illinois is one of them!
Starting pay is $9.00 an hour, with training bonuses and a $1.00 increase after 90 days. Some benefits are also included. This company hires both full- and part-time employees. There is paid online training to help set you up for success.
High-speed wired internet is essential, as is a distraction-free home office. A phone headset will be provided. You must be a great listener, have exceptional communication skills, and have above average computer skills.
2. Rosetta Stone
Are you an experienced salesperson ready to take on a new challenge? Rosetta Stone is looking for Sales Executives for the Midwest Region. You must have a passion for education, show a proven track record in sales, and be excellent at developing relationships. Ideally, you’d have K-12 educational technology sales experience as well.

Excellent communication skills, a quiet home office, and solid analytical skills are important when applying. J.J. Keller provides regulatory, safety, and compliance solutions to numerous companies. They’re looking to grow their inside sales team with people from Chicago who are sales-minded, competitive, and resourceful.
To succeed in this position, you need strong communication skills. You must be able to manage your time well and apply sales processes with confidence. This position averages $55,000 to $61,000 and doesn’t require you to work nights or weekends. There’s also a comprehensive benefits package, and plenty of career growth opportunities.

Enterprise Holdings provides car rental services through Enterprise, Alamo, and National. This company frequently hires remote workers for their call center, and Illinois is one of the states they hire from.
Since this is a phone-based job, you will need to be comfortable handling lots of phone calls. This position requires you to handle a high volume of inbound calls daily and to convert callers into customers.
This position has six weeks of training. It pays $13 an hour, with the potential for commission. It is a full-time job, and weekends are required. The hours are not traditional, typically requiring a start time between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. and then working through the evening.
6. Neiman Marcus Group
Neiman Marcus Group is searching for Digital Stylists/Personal Shoppers in several cities, including Chicago. The positions are full-time and allow you to work from home. However, you will need to travel to the nearest store occasionally.
You will be building lasting relationships with customers, as you learn their preferred needs, styles, and personalities. In this role, you will provide personalized recommendations and style advice. Excellent customer service skills are required. You also need to be passionate about styling and knowledgeable in the fashion industry.

You must have valid credentials and five years of experience. Since you will be working with confidential information, wired internet is required. You must be able to analyze data, identify quality of care issues and ensure they are escalated following company procedures, and communicate well with clients.

After completing training, and the initial requirements, you start your own micro call center. But, you won’t be totally on your own. Join the virtual call center team at LiveOps and provide customer service, support, and sales from your home office. This position is an independent contractor, which means you will be responsible for your own taxes.
There are plenty of different opportunities to choose from, so pick something that makes you excited. The hours and requirements vary, so read all the details carefully. Most of these pay a per-talk-minute rate, so make sure you have a clear understanding of how that works.
