If your ideal working environment includes convenience, autonomy, flexibility and independence, a work-at-home environment may be the best decision you make for your family. This next installment in my location-specific work-from-home job opportunities is Tennessee, and I have put together a fantastic list of opportunities that fit these wants perfectly.
Each of the companies listed is looking for remote workers with a wide variety of skills and talents living in Tennessee. Keep in mind that work from home positions are in high demand. If you don’t see an opening with the company you are interested in working with, keep checking back every few days.
Be mindful of reading the fine print before applying for any opportunity; will you be an employee or a contract worker? Be sure to review the skills and expectations for each role before spending a lot of time filling out profiles and paperwork for an opportunity that you really don’t want.
1. Carlson Wagonlit Travel
Carlson Wagonlit Travel has been a reliable resource for corporate and government agencies looking to manage their global travel, corporate meetings and events for 25 years. If you are a highly organized individual who loves to plan, this role is for you. Remote opportunities at Carlson Wagonlit Travel include traveler counseling, sales, account management, and meeting and event planning. The hours are flexible, however, you are responsible for your clients plans and managing deadlines.
This role will require you to have a computer or laptop, an internet connection a quiet working area and excellent organizational and communication skills.
2. TTEC
TTEC works directly with brands and companies to help support and improve their customer experiences. Their clients are in many different industry verticals such as financial services, insurance, healthcare, automotive, retail and ecommerce, communications, media and technology. Services these clients require fall under digital needs, such as digital consulting, social media, sales strategy and optimization or designing client communications. Engagement tasks at TTEC can be customer communication and service, customer acquisition and sales (B2B or B2C) and even fraud prevention.
To be successful, you must have a keen understanding of customer service and good business practices, a desktop or laptop computer, headset and internet access.
3. Hilton
Do you have a knack for customer service? Hilton is the first hospitality company to reach Fortune’s #1 spot for Best Companies to Work For in the U.S. They offer remote positions in an assortment of departments from customer service, booking, sales, and field operations support. Some of the positions offer a benefits package and there is tremendous room for growth. Hilton’s mission is to provide world class customer service so expect a formal interview process in order to be considered and selected for a position.
Basic necessities for the role are a laptop or desktop computer (monitor), high-speed internet (must be wired), surge protector and a home office space free from distractions. Hilton will also supply some office equipment depending on the position.
4. Cactus Communications
Cactus Communications works with freelance editors to support clients with translation, medical and science communications, technology, finance, sales, and education. Cactus has a steady flow of incoming projects and a state of the art workflow-management system for your communications. The key to success at Cactus will be your ability to take the ball and run, managing sometimes unruly manuscripts and clearly communicating, rewriting, editing and submitting your work.
You will need access to a computer or laptop, an internet connection, Microsoft Word and Excel programs and a quiet working area.
5. HSN
HSN hires both part-time and full-time customer service representatives. Customer service representatives must provide friendly and accurate resolutions to customer questions. Workers must have a high school degree or equivalent and previous customer service experience. An up to date computer, approved headset and high-speed internet are technical requirements for this position.
6. Windy City Call Center
Windy City Call Center seeks Tennessee-based workers for home-based call center positions. This position is full-time and completely remote. You can create your own schedule between the hours of 8 am to 9 pm EST Monday-Saturday. All employees earn paid time off, medical care and 401k after 90 days of employment. Paid training is provided.
7. Nordstrom
Norstrom hires at-home employees as customer care representatives. Employees must have kind phone etiquette and be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Benefits include a discount at stores, medical coverage and 401k. Employees need up-to-date technology approved for the position including high-speed wired internet and a computer. Nordstrom hires full-time employees, based in the U.S for this position.
8. BELAY
Tennessee workers can find virtual assistant and bookkeeping jobs through Belay. Workers can be completely remote as long as they have an up to date computer, high-speed internet and USB headset. Belay will assign you to a job and a company that is best suited to your skills. Though they hire independent contractors, belay offers paid training and free ongoing training and assistance. Applicants with a bachelor’s degree and previous administrative assistance work are preferred.
9. Conduent
Conduent seeks full-time customer care employees. Employees will help customers needs via phone and webchat. Training is provided for employees at $12 per hour and goes up to $13 per hour after 90 days of employment. Benefits include healthcare, paid time off and 401k. Conduent offers continuing training programs to help advance your skills and career.
10. Enterprise
Tennessee residents can currently find home-based customer service positions through Enterprise. A variety of customer service work is involved in this position but mainly includes providing customer service over the phone and handling questions via web chat and email. Enterprise employees are eligible for benefits such as medical, paid time off and 401k. Employees must provide an up to date PC, USB headset and high-speed internet. Employees receive competitive commission and bonuses on top of their hourly wage.
