Every year I like to take a look at what’s trending in the online marketing world and expert predictions of what’s to come and devise a list of top virtual assistant services for the upcoming year. So many exciting things are going on right now. It’s a great time to be a VA!

Social Media Management
The fact that social media is getting “harder” to master is good news for freelance service providers. When it’s no longer as simple as throwing out a link and watching the Likes and comments and shares rack up, people turn to us. And if you have the skills, tools, and a power social media strategy, you’re in business.
Video Editing & Promotion
We have been hearing “this is the year for video” for what feels like years now. There is no doubt video marketing continues to increase in popularity and we most recently saw the massive power of live streaming via the likes of Blab, Vine, Meerkat, Periscope and Facebook.
As content marketers and business owners, we don’t want these short masterpieces to slip away into oblivion, however. We want them preserved and repurposed whenever possible. That opens up an area for service providers like includes transcribing videos, uploading to additional platforms or embedding on a website, answering questions and sharing links during a live stream, blocking the trolls, welcoming and thanking viewers, prompting shares, encouraging calls to action, consulting and more.

Email Marketing
Those that thought they could get by on social media alone are finally waking up to the fact that they need more control over their conversation and sales channels. More and more advertising dollars are being spent on funneling people into email lists. More and more time and effort are being put into automation and content upgrades. This is one of the service and marketing areas I am most excited about for 2016!
Email marketing service packages can be very broad or very specific depending on your expertise. There is a need for general services like creating newsletter content, scheduling, split testing and analytics. There is also a great demand for more specialized VAs like those dealing specifically with LeadPages, ConvertKit, content upgrades, automation and drip campaigns. If you have experience with a specific *hot* platform like LeadPages, Seva, AWeber or Mailchimp, promote it. Clients are willing to pay more for premium services packages dealing with platforms they use – or want to use.
Social Media Advertising
It’s old news that most social media platforms have turned the corner to paid advertising. The good news for business owners is that, for the time being, running ads on Facebook and Pinterest is pretty inexpensive and pretty effective when done correctly. But, it can be time-consuming and there is always a learning curve. That makes this area perfect for outsourcing.
