The following responses are provided by LaTera Callis, a supervisor for KellyConnect
First in this KellyConnect review, let’s hear from LaTera Callis, a KellyConnect Supervisor.
Why did you choose to work from home?
At the time, my youngest son was 5 years old. He had just begun kindergarten, while I had two other children, one in 5th grade and one in 7th grade. We had one family vehicle. The opportunity for employment in a work-from-home position became available through Kelly Services, and it was the perfect “light at the end of the tunnel” because my husband drove our one vehicle to work.
What made you apply to KellyConnect?
I had worked for Kelly Services at an office location before having my first child, and I heard that there was a work-from-home program within Kelly Services, and I thought, “No way!” After I did a Google search and found this to be true. I applied that day. Within one day, I had an interview scheduled.
How long have you been with the company?
Since July 31, 2013.
How has this position allowed you to meet your personal needs and goals?
Wow, where do I begin? When I joined Kelly Services, my family and I were in a financial bind, having three children and only one income. Working at Kelly has allowed me to meet many personal goals and needs in my everyday life.
By working from home, we were able to have two incomes yet only pay for fuel for one car. We also didn’t have to pay for childcare because I was home when my children came home from school. These two areas alone have allowed us to save money, and we now have plans in the works to purchase our first home together.
I began my career at Kelly Services as an advisor. I can remember within the first month of working for Kelly that I knew that “this” is where I wanted to be. My supervisor at that time instilled a lot of confidence in me as well as those around her, and that’s when I set my goals to become a Kelly supervisor.
I wanted to help those around me achieve their maximum potential. Through the Leadership Development program at Kelly, I have been able to work on personal growth, which has helped me advance in my career. From the role of an advisor, I moved on to become a team leader. In this role, I was able to build on my leadership skills and reached my ultimate goal (at that time) to become a supervisor within Kelly.
In February 2016, I had the opportunity to step into a supervisor role, and since then, I have been expanding my goals to advance further within the Kelly Services family. This has all been made possible by the growing support that continues to surround my peers and me here at Kelly Services.
What challenges do you face in this position?
There are certainly some challenges in a virtual work environment. I would say the biggest challenge would be not to allow yourself to become isolated. When working virtually, you don’t have a breakout room where you drink your morning coffee with your co-employees.
You don’t have a water cooler to stop at and chat with the next person. You don’t have a buddy from work that you can take a walk to get exercise. It’s up to you, yourself to stay involved at work and in your personal life.
Kelly provides a fun atmosphere, which includes prizes and contests to keep employees active and engaged. This helps a ton. I have children who are involved in sports, so after work hours I am active in our community. People interaction is a must. The last thing you want to do is become a hermit in your own home, so pushing yourself to stay active helps conquer this challenge.
What’s your typical week like (for example, scheduling, working a shift, getting paid, etc.)?
We get paid weekly on Friday through direct deposit, which makes life so much easier. I work Sunday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST. I’m off on Fridays and Saturdays, which works out perfectly because it allows me to get my doctor appointments, errands, etc., done on Fridays while the kids are in school, and then on Saturdays we have a family day.
My work varies depending on what day of the week it is, but my daily tasks include checking reports, driving performance, coaching, call reviews, attending meetings to help improve overall work performance, and staying in constant communication with my peers and my direct reports.
I spread my breaks out during the mornings and afternoons to get up and move around throughout the day. My lunch usually consists of something quick and getting dinner started for that evening – a win/win for the family!

Next, in this KellyConnect review, let’s hear from Jane Livermore, Senior Director of KellyConnect Operations.
What’s the application process like?
The application process is 100% virtual and a seamless process. Candidates apply through our KellyConnect landing page (www.joinkellyconnect.com). This page provides job seekers with a link to all of Kelly’s available “virtual” or work-at-home positions.
After answering a few short pre-qualification questions related to the position, qualified candidates move to a behavioral assessment to ensure they are the right fit. After completion of the assessment and if selected to move forward, they will participate in a video interview with a KellyConnect recruiter.
This process can be completed in less than one hour. The timeline to schedule an interview with a recruiter is within 48 hours of the start of the application process.
Are there any fees involved?
It is 100% free to apply and interview with a KellyConnect recruiter.
How long do you keep resumes on file?
Resumes are on file indefinitely. We will often circle back to past resumes if we have a business need.
What time frame can be expected from acceptance to the first paycheck?
The entire onboarding process can range anywhere from one to four weeks. This includes the steps listed above and time spent with a recruiter to complete all necessary hiring forms.
During the one-to-four-week period, candidates participate in new employee orientation (which is paid). The time frame involved depends on the timeliness of the candidate in completing all the steps within the onboarding process. Employees are paid on a weekly basis.
Is this a good job for someone needing a flexible schedule and/or still working a full-time job outside of the home?
Our positions are considered full-time positions at 38+ hours per week. As such, these positions would not be ideal for someone looking to supplement income, yet the KellyConnect program offers very flexible schedules and several different options to our employees to ensure work/life balance.
However, schedules are based on business needs and vary depending on those business needs. Employee schedules are posted 10 days in advance, and each advisor is required to work one weekend day. In addition, there are tools and processes in place to support scheduling flexibility.
Can you give us an average hourly pay or average pay range?
The salary range for positions offered through the KellyConnect program varies, with a starting salary range of $13 to $15 per hour, based on skill set and scope of support. The pay scale increases from there as the position level advances. Additionally, KellyConnect offers employees performance-based incentives, earned paid time off, and career advancement opportunities.
Any tips for applying?
We are looking for highly motivated call center professionals to provide customer service. Candidates should be prepared to spend at least one hour on our required assessments and be camera-ready and in professional attire when interviewing with our recruiters. Having a technical background and a passion for helping customers of all levels is a plus. Visit www.joinkellyconnect.com to get started.
