I was a little surprised recently to find a lot of bloggers do not utilize Social Media for their blogs. As a blogger, Internet Marketer and a Virtual Assistant, I tend to forget that not everyone is using all the online marketing tools I use on a daily basis. In order to monetize your blog on a consistent basis, it’s imperative that you build a following. A lot of bloggers are under the impression that because there is an RSS feed button available on their blog, those who want to follow will click it. From the reader standpoint it can be confusing. They may not be familiar with the different methods they can receive your blog feed, so they don’t proceed any further. They may or may not be back to your blog because of this.
The quickest way to build a following and keep your readers come back is to build a list. List building in today’s Social Media age is generally via three methods, all of which are important. The more options you give your readers to follow you, the better the chance that they will already be doing at least one of those following methods.
There are two buttons and one box that every blog needs to have in their sidebar: “Follow Me on Twitter” button, “Become a Fan on Facebook” button and “Sign Up for my Newsletter” opt-in box. Chances are good they may already be on Twitter or Facebook, if not they probably can get email. With the click of a button or by entering their email address, they are now on your list. You can bring them back to your website over and over again by sending updates via these simple methods. And it’s a lot easier to keep your current readers returning than to keep chasing down new readers. Your current readers will probably bring them along anyway.
If you are already using these methods yourself, their integration into your blog should be easy. Get your blog a Social Media presence today!
