I was one that quit before I had myself started too, but I don’t regret it. That fear of failure gave me even more drive and determination. Some of us work best under pressure. And as long as you have the determination, you can’t fail. 😉

Thank you for this article. It couldn’t have come at a better time for me. I definitely need to keep the tax issue in mind and train my husband to realise that just because I’m at home all day does not mean he doesn’t have to do any housework.

I tried to build my freelance writing business a bit at a time, while working a full time job, with the aim of having some solid clients before I made the leap into full time. It didn’t work for me so I took a radical leap and quit my job.

It’s the scariest thing I’ve ever done, and I’m only a few weeks in so it’s tough to tell how well it’s going so far. I’ve got a couple of clients and I’m working on pitches for more. It’s a hugely steep learning curve and at the moment my working hours (mainly for researching my chosen primary niche) are ‘when I’m conscious’. I’ve never worked so hard, been so scared, or felt so alive.

Thanks so much for including me in your post. I know how challenging it can be to work from home, especially if you’re a mom. A lot of my mommy friends just don’t get what I do. I am fortunate to have a in-real-life blogger friend and we can talk about all things internet!

Thanks for your article! I work at home as an event planner and aspiring blogger. I’m soooooo busy between work, my blog and business idea (which is still dream state), volunteering, sitting on 3 boards and having a life! But because I work at home, family, friends and clients think I’m lazy or doing nothing or just hanging at home. After 2 years at home I still get annoyed by the comments. It’s hurtful and annoying but that people think just because you work at home you sit around all day doing nothing but in reality I’m more productive then most people in offices!! I appreciate hearing I’m not the only one with the boundary struggle.
