Do you wish you could make money this weekend without having to spend all your time hustling? Well, you’re in luck! I spent some time brainstorming and came up with seven different hustle-free ways to make money.
These opportunities:
- Won’t require you constantly drum up new business or market yourself
- Don’t take a specific skill set (they’re a great fit for most people)
- Are flexible enough you can fit them into your spare moments
The money-making ideas below aren’t going to make you rich, but every little bit helps. And most of these are so simple they won’t even feel like you’re working.
Are you ready to make some money this weekend? Let me show you how…
1. Get Paid to Surf the Web
How much time do you spend online searching for information? Whether you’re looking up a new recipe or trying to figure out if Tony is really going to make a return appearance on NCIS, you probably spend a lot of time searching.
Done with the right browser, you can get points for doing your everyday, typical browsing. And these points translate into money!
Here’s how to get paid for doing something you’re already doing:
- Sign up for an account with Swagbucks
- Use their browser for your search queries
- Get Swagbucks (SB)
- Turn your SB into gift cards, PayPal cash or redeem your SB for something awesome on the site
The best part about Swagbucks?
Surfing the web isn’t the only regular activity you get paid for. You can also:
- Watch videos
- Take surveys
- Play games
- Buy stuff online
- And more
And for each of those things, that you’re likely doing anyway, you can earn money. Going to place an order at Walmart.com? Click through your Swagbucks link first and get points for your order. You can earn a free gift card just for doing the shopping you were already planning on doing!
If that isn’t hustle-free, I don’t know what is. So go sign up for a Swagbucks account and see how many Swagbucks (SBs) you can rack up this weekend.
2. Watch Some Videos
Swagbucks isn’t the only company that wants to pay you for watching videos. The following companies all reward you for taking the time to watch the videos.
Wondering how this works? The companies are getting paid by advertisers to include their content on the videos. Then, a portion of this money can be passed along to you. Because without you, there wouldn’t be an audience…they need you to keep making a profit.
If you’re ready to relax and watch some videos, here are some to try:

3. Sell Some Clutter
It used to be that selling your unused stuff required setting up a yard sale or taking it to a consignment shop. Thankfully technology has made it way simpler to turn your old items into cash.
You can list your item for sale on eBay. Or Craigslist. Or on Facebook Marketplace. There are tons of apps for this purpose as well, like Letgo, Carousell, Poshmark, and OfferUp.
Selling things is a good way to quickly generate some cash. But, you don’t want to just throw your ad together. Take a few minutes to:
- Get quality pictures (show people different angles and give an honest look at it)
- Research a fair price
- Write a compelling description that includes why you’re selling it (because people are nosey and want to know; the more “human” you are, the more likely it will catch someone’s attention and sell)
Then post it and connect with buyers who contact you. Collect your money. Then sell something else.
You never know — you may love this selling thing so much that you turn it into a legit side gig or even a full-time business. You could move from selling your own things to flipping things you buy at thrift stores. That’s what happened to me with Poshmark!

4. Use Your Phone to Make Some Money
Smartphones are a crazy cool invention. They allow you to talk to your friends and family by phone, text or messages. You can surf the web. Or use them to play games.
You can even turn your phone into a money generating machine. Yup, it’s true. With that little gadget, you can make some real money.
Ready to earn with your smartphone? You can:
- Install apps like Ibotta or Rakuten (formerly Ebates) to get cashback for things you’re already doing, like buying groceries
- Apply to become a driver with Lyft or deliver food with DoorDash
- Become a grocery shopper with Instacart
- Tutor people in English language skills with Palfish

5. Complete Some Microtasks
If you have an internet connection and a few minutes of time, you can knock out some microtasks. These bite-sized tasks vary greatly, but common ones include:
- Data entry
- Filling in forms
- Answering questions
- Simple web research
- Rating content
You have plenty of options for sites to sign up with for these tasks. They vary in their procedures, but typically you’ll log in and be able to access jobs. Then once you complete them, money gets added to your account. When you reach a certain threshold, you can request the funds. Here are some companies you can get started with:

6. Take Some Stock Photos
If you’ve got a camera, or even a new smartphone with a great lens, you can submit your photos to stock photography sites and earn some passive income. To maximize your earnings, think about unique shots you could take.
Flat lays are all the rage right now… could you throw your own spin on them? Could you take pictures of animals or car parts?
Once you have quality pictures, it’s a simple process to submit them to a site. You will need to sign up for an account, and be clear on the terms. Make sure you know how you will be compensated.
This isn’t a quick way to get money, but it’s definitely something you could get started with this weekend. Here are some sites to check out:

7. Give Your Opinion
You have an opinion, and companies want to know what it is. Market research is important for any business. That’s why paid survey opportunities are a thing. You answer some questions, provide some insight, and let companies know what you think.
They take this information from you (and other participants) and use it to help shape their products and marketing plans.
If you’re interested in getting started with surveys, here are some places I recommend:
