One of the most frequently asked questions recently when it comes to blogging is what to share on social media. With algorithms constantly changing and the implementation of paid advertising, it’s harder than ever for bloggers to reach their readers on the social platforms we have become accustomed to marketing on. If you are looking to leverage your social marketing time, here are six things to include in your content schedule.
Newsletter Signup Form
Want to actually reach your readers? Get them on your newsletter list. When I say “share your newsletter opt-in on social media” I do not mean those little Twitter Cards and Sign Up box provided by Facebook that’s a mainstay on your profile. I mean at least twice per month asking your social media followers to join your newsletter. If you offer a freebie of some kind to new subscribers, create a nice page on your blog explaining the benefits of joining your newsletter and the freebie they get when they sign up. Now share that page a few times per month.
There is no quicker way to increase your Reach than sharing posts that already have plenty of social credibility. Go through your Google Analytics and make a list of your top 15 to 30 posts to share throughout the month. Hit up BuzzSumo to find popular posts of others in your industry to share as well.
Do you sell a product or service? Keep in mind it takes on average 7 contacts for a customer to make a purchase. And don’t forget you have new followers joining the party daily. Two or three times per month mention what you have available for purchasing.
I have Google Alerts set up for multiple topics I blog about. When Google finds something interesting in the news about those things, I get an email letting me know. In addition to being seen as “in the know” about important things, news outlet usually come with a lot of social cred that I can take advantage of when sharing on my own profiles.
If there is a product or service you have been asked about or that is on sale feel free to share it on social media. Just don’t forget to disclose with #ad, #sponsored or #affiliate.
Don’t get afraid to share a little of yourself on social media. We want to relate to those we learn from. Show your sense of humor. If you are a faith-based blogger, spread the hope and love. Don’t be afraid of losing followers because of your beliefs or personality. Your end goal in marketing is connecting with the right one not everyone.
