Cool Tools for Bloggers: Clipix Online Clipboards

If you are a fellow blogger and online business owner, you are likely well aware of how many things you can get done in two very short minutes while switching tasks. You can check your email, hop on Twitter, run over to Facebook, hit Google Reader. What I cannot usually get done is actually reading those things I find along the way. I previously was not quite sure where to put these so that I would remember to revisit them. I really don’t want to publicly bookmark something that I am not necessarily recommending at this point.

Clipix is a new online organization site. It may look a little similar to some of the other options out there. You will create an account and add the clipping tool to your browser’s bookmark bar. But, there are a few key differences here:

  • Privacy Settings – I can keep some or all of my online clipboards private if I so choose. Sometimes we want to bookmark something for later, but we may not want everyone else to see it. This is not something many sites offer right now. Your business is everyone’s business. All of the time. Clipix will let me keep these clippings hidden until I want to share.
  • Clip Away – I read A LOT. When I am not reading online, I am probably reading offline. Clipix is not just about the cutest cartoons and the yummiest cookies, though those are welcome here too. I can clip what I find interesting, regardless of whether it is carrying a cool image or not. If you like it, you can clip it.
  • Syncboards – These are boards that can be clipped to collaboratively.
  • Multiboards – You can group multiple online clipboards by category for even further organization.

Clipix still comes with the sharing aspect that we all love. When I am ready to give those things I clipped my seal of approval, I can move them to a public clipboard and share them via Facebook, Twitter or email. I can reclip and comment on other users’ clips.

I am digging Clipix. I have a lot more control over what I am able to do here and my privacy. And I’m a bit of a control freak. Don’t tell anyone. ;)

What would you clip with clipix?
