Many people think that they cannot make money from their old or used items around their house. But, that is not true. You can easily sell your stuff on Craigslist to make money. I have sold a ton of items on Craigslist and never had any problems. You do need to be cautious because there are a lot of scams posted on their site, but it is a great way to earn some extra cash in your free time.
Craigslist is free and convenient. There are no shipping costs involved with Craigslist because all sales are done locally. If you have never been on their site take some time to look around to familiarize yourself with how people buy or sell items. It will give you a better idea when it is time for you to start listing your items. You can search their site by category or type in an item in the search bar.
To get started you, go onto Craigslist and search the closest city in your area. Then, you can setup a free account and you are ready to list your items you want to sell. If you are willing to take a little bit of time to list your items then your earnings potential is endless.
Tips for Selling on Craigslist
Good Pictures
Take good pictures of the item you want to sell. Most people that are looking to purchase an item want to be able to see what it looks like before they buy it. You do not want to waste your time or someone else’s by setting up a time to sell the product and it not being what they wanted after they saw what it looked like. Plus, this gives the buyer a better idea of what ‘condition’ your item is in.
Set a Fair Price
Make sure you pick a price that you are comfortable with to allow room for bargaining. Most people want to get a deal and will try to negotiate to get a lower price. More often than not you will receive responses from potential buyers that are always lower than your asking price, so make sure you take that into consideration when listing your items on Craigslist.
Complete Description
Provide potential buyers will a clear description of the item you are trying to sell. Be as detailed as possible. You do not want to leave out key information that could cause you to lose the sale. Also, make sure you fill in the appropriate categories so that potential buyers can find it when they are searching Craigslist.
Be Discreet
If possible, do not list your phone number or address and choose the ‘hide email address’ option. Otherwise you may get a lot of fake phone calls or text messages.
Once you familiarize with the site and list your first item you will see how easy it can be to make money from selling on Craigslist. The best part if you can do it as often as you want and it does not interfere with your full-time job.
